Korbyn Carleton (b. 1997) is an interdisciplinary artist whose current work focuses on modern women's lack of body literacy and the effects that come from our divorce from the natural rhythms of life. The fragmented female forms symbolize the disconnect between women and their own bodies, as their innate wisdom has been silenced and historically disregarded and distorted by external forces. The areas where the body is absent is not entirely void but instead suggest a space where something profound resides, something that has yet to be fully realized or reclaimed. She recognizes the womb, the origin of life and creation, as a powerful metaphor for the body's potential to restore and regenerate. In this sense, it is a woman's ability to care for and heal herself through reflection, introspection, and the cultivation of self-knowledge.
